I see fashion through the lens of a painter, a sculptor, a printmaker, a photographer, and a writer. My history and experience as a multimedia artist has given me an established foundation in the fashion world, which helps drive artistic visions and fresh perspectives into my work. As a fashion accessories designer, I am driven by the belief that accessories have the power to share a story, encourage individuality and instill confidence in the wearer.
The shoes, bags and small leather accessories I make are made with high quality leather and suede, and I lean towards earth tones or neutrals for my color palettes. My pieces keep a classic silhouette while adding in elements of individuality, such as furs, metals or embellishments, blending contemporary trends with classic elements in order to make a statement, while still creating an accessory that is wearable and accessible. In this way, the story they tell is one of a fusion of modern aesthetics and timeless styles.
Craftsmanship is at the core of my personal values, as I strive for perfection in every piece I make, through focus on detail work, proper material choices, and precise sewing execution. Other values that are heavily rooted throughout my work include sophistication, versatility and timelessness. I also love to tell a story through my work, such as creating something inspired from an experience I had, or using aspects of something I love to create a piece.
To be a fashion designer is to be a curator of individuality, weaving in ideations through fabric, color and form. This is a concept that I aspire towards, as I want each of my pieces to be seen as a valuable contribution to fashion, that create a lasting statement of artistry and craft in the eyes of my audience.
